Ambedkarite Buddhist Association of Texas Announces Grand Opening of Mahabodhi International Buddhist Center in Garland
Garland, Texas — With heartfelt happiness and deep reverence, the Ambedkarite Buddhist Association of Texas (ABAT) proudly announces the Grand Opening Ceremony of the Mahabodhi International Buddhist Center, a landmark spiritual and cultural institution that will serve as the first Mahabodhi Society branch from Bengaluru, India, established in the United States.
This historic occasion will take place on Saturday, July 4, 2026, coinciding with the 250th anniversary of the Independence Day of the United States, symbolizing freedom, equality, compassion, and unity among diverse communities.
The Mahabodhi International Buddhist Center is envisioned as a sanctuary dedicated to preserving and spreading the teachings of Lord Buddha through meditation, mindfulness, compassion, social harmony, and the values of peace and human dignity inspired by Dr. B. R. Ambedkar.
The grand inauguration is expected to welcome a truly international and multicultural gathering, including 20+ Buddhist monks from various traditions and ethnic backgrounds, as well as participants from across the United States and around the world. The event will especially bring together Ambedkarite communities and Buddhist followers representing Indian, Sri Lankan, Nepalese, Burmese, Thai, Vietnamese, and American communities.
